Two attackers shot and killed a South Korean national along Roxas Boulevard Avenue in Pasay City, Metro Manila. The individual was reportedly walking towards Arnaiz Avenue at around 04:23 when the perpetrators attempted to rob the victim; the assailants opened fire when he resisted. Police are investigating the shooting and have arrested one suspect; the other perpetrator remains at large.
The murders of foreign nationals are usually linked to robberies gone wrong, personal disputes, and suspicious business dealings. Given the country’s widespread availability of firearms and many criminals’ willingness to resort to force, the incident highlights that individuals should not resist or confront their assailants.
